Thomas Michael Reilly (1941 - 2011)

Tom Reilly passed away on November 19, 2011. Tom was our Coachella Valley MM Support Group leader for many years until last month. Tom is survived by his wife Polly and his family. Tom was a fine man and very knowledgeable about our disease.

Thomas Reilly died surrounded by family at his home in Indio, Calif. on November 19, 2011 after a valiant battle with cancer. Tom was born April 24, 1941 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Francis Vincent Reilly and Helen Hendricks. He graduated from St. Augustine's High in 1958, and from the U.S. Naval Academy with Honors, Class of 1962. After nuclear power training, Tom served on three submarines. He married the love of his life, Pauline Pysz, in New London, Conn. on November 12, 1966. Tom earned a Harvard MBA in 1972 and relocated to California. He spent nearly 30 years as a business executive, overseeing operations, manufacturing, imports and exports, and international sales. After many years weekending in the desert, Tom and Polly retired to Heritage Palms in 2000. Tom was active in his Catholic Church, enjoyed golf, reading and world travel. In his later years, Tom established many close friendships through participation in Benedictus and the Multiple Myeloma support group. Tom is survived by his wife, Polly; son, Michael; daughter, Rachel; brother, Vincent; and sisters, Helen and Kathleen. The family wishes to acknowledge the care and concern of Dr. Dreisbach and the Desert Hematology staff, and the VNAIC Hospice team. ...
